TTSH Best Teacher Awards

Tan Tock Seng Hos­pi­tal Best Teacher Awards

The Best Teacher Awards were inau­gu­rated in 1999 to rec­og­nize clin­i­cians whose pas­sion and effec­tive­ness in teach­ing deserved com­men­da­tion. The junior cat­e­gory was added in 2000. Every year, med­ical stu­dents, junior doc­tors and trainees will nom­i­nate and clin­i­cal lead­ers will select the award win­ners. A win­ner in the junior cat­e­gory is eli­gi­ble for the senior cat­e­gory later. A win­ner in the senior cat­e­gory how­ever is not eli­gi­ble for selec­tion again. In some years, two clin­i­cians were joint win­ners in the same cat­e­gory, a tes­ti­mony to the strong teach­ing tra­di­tion in TTSH. The awards were with­held in 2003–2004 due to dis­rup­tion of teach­ing activ­i­ties by SARS.

We are very proud that the TTSH Best Teacher Awards has the longest his­tory among health­care insti­tu­tions in Sin­ga­pore and major­ity of our award win­ners are still mem­bers of the TTSH fam­ily. It is our priv­i­lege that every day, their clin­i­cal exper­tise and ded­i­ca­tion to teach­ing con­tinue to inspire many young clin­i­cians, to “aim for excel­lence in cost-effective health­care, edu­ca­tion and research”.

Tan Tock Seng Hos­pi­tal Top Ten Teacher Awards

The Top Ten Teacher Awards were inau­gu­rated in 2006 to com­ple­ment the Best Teacher Awards. It is open to all clin­i­cians includ­ing past win­ners of Best Teacher Award. Top Ten Teacher Award win­ners are also eli­gi­ble for repeat selec­tion in sub­se­quent years, in recog­ni­tion of clin­i­cians who pur­sue excel­lence in teach­ing continuously.

Together with the Best Teacher Award win­ners, Top Ten Teacher Award win­ners help to ensure that TTSH remains the pre­ferred teach­ing hos­pi­tal among med­ical stu­dents and young clinicians.
