A/Prof Chiam Peak Chi­ang is a senior con­sul­tant in the Depart­ment of Geri­atric Psy­chi­a­try, Insti­tute of Men­tal Health (IMH). When not in the wards, clin­ics and nurs­ing homes man­ag­ing elderly peo­ple with psy­chi­atric dis­or­ders, she would be engaged with teach­ing activ­i­ties. She teaches med­ical stu­dents who rotate through IMH and super­vises the psy­chi­atric trainees. As the Direc­tor of the Train­ing Divi­sion and Edu­ca­tion Director’s Office of IMH, she co-ordinates the teach­ing activ­i­ties of the hos­pi­tal staff, med­ical stu­dents, and psy­chi­atric trainees. As the Pro­gram Direc­tor of the National Psy­chi­a­try Pro­gram, she will make sure that the res­i­dents are rotated through all the nec­es­sary post­ings in IMH and the Psy­cho­log­i­cal Depart­ments of the gen­eral hos­pi­tals to be trained in not just gen­eral psy­chi­a­try and but also in the sub-specialties. She is also actively involved in the MMed (Psy­chi­a­try) Exam­i­na­tions both as an exam­iner and as a mem­ber of the MMed (Psy­chi­a­try) Com­mit­tee of the Divi­sion of Grad­u­ate Med­ical Studies.

Dr Nicholas Chew Wuen Ming is a con­sul­tant psy­chi­a­trist and deputy head of the depart­ment of psy­cho­log­i­cal med­i­cine ttsh. He received post grad­u­ate train­ing in con­sul­ta­tion liai­son psy­chi­a­try and psy­chother­apy at Mon­treal Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal, McGill uni­ver­sity health cen­ter.
He cur­rently runs a HIV psy­chi­a­try ser­vice at the com­mu­ni­ca­ble dis­ease cen­tre and a post-stroke depres­sion ser­vice in TTSH-rehab at Ang Mo Kio — Thye Hwa Kwan hos­pi­tal. He has a keen inter­est in teach­ing, was nom­i­nated for the TTSH top 10 teach­ers award in 2007 and 2008, as well as the NUS dean’s teach­ing award 2007. He is cur­rently a risk man­age­ment trainer with the Med­ical Pro­tec­tion Soci­ety and the Cog­ni­tive Institute.

Dr Ong Seh Hong (MBBS 1987, MRCPsych(UK)1994, FAMS 1997) did his basic med­ical train­ing at NUS and his post grad­u­ate train­ing with the Westminster-Charing Cross psy­chi­atric rota­tion. Cur­rently he is a Senior Con­sul­tant at AH (Psy­cho­log­i­cal Well­ness) and a Vis­it­ing Con­sul­tant at TTSH.

Dr Cai Yim­ing grad­u­ated from the National Uni­ver­sity of Sin­ga­pore in 1975.
He joined Wood­bridge Hos­pi­tal as a med­ical offi­cer and started his career in psy­chi­a­try in 1977.
He received post­grad­u­ate train­ing in psy­chi­a­try at the Insti­tute of Psy­chi­a­try in Lon­don under
a Com­mon­wealth schol­ar­ship (United King­dom) from 1979 to 1981. He has been a Fel­low of
the Acad­emy of Med­i­cine (Sin­ga­pore) since 1987.

From 1991 to 1992 he was based in the Hos­pi­tal for Sick Chil­dren, Toronto (Canada) as a
Clin­i­cal Fel­low under the Health Man­power Devel­op­ment Plan Fel­low­ship Scheme
(Min­istry of Health, Singapore).

He was Head of the Depart­ment of Child and Ado­les­cent Psy­chi­a­try, Insti­tute of Men­tal
Health and Wood­bridge Hos­pi­tal from 1993 to 2006.

In 1999 he was appointed as a World Health Orga­ni­za­tion (WHO) Con­sul­tant on Life Skills
Edu­ca­tion for school children.

He has writ­ten sev­eral books. He co-authored “Help Your Child to Cope-Understanding
Child­hood Stress” (1998), and “Raise Your Child Right-A Par­ent­ing Guide for 0–6 Years”
(2002), In 2003, he wrote “Liv­ing with ADHD”. In 2005, he wrote “When Par­ents Fight, The Chil­dren Cry” . He co-edited and con­tributed a
num­ber of chap­ters in the book-A Primer of Child and Ado­les­cent Psy­chi­a­try in 2008.

In his clin­i­cal prac­tice, he has a spe­cial inter­est in the foren­sic assess­ment of cus­tody and access issues of chil­dren in divorce, child phys­i­cal and sex­ual abuse, and juve­nile crimes in general.

Dr Tan Lay Ling is a senior con­sul­tant in the Depart­ment of Geri­atric Psy­chi­a­try, Insti­tute of Men­tal Health (IMH). At the depart­men­tal level, she coor­di­nates the teach­ing pro­gram and train­ing of med­ical and allied health pro­fes­sion­als. She is appointed Adjunct Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor by the Yong Loo Lin School of Med­i­cine, National Uni­ver­sity of Sin­ga­pore and teaches med­ical stu­dents who rotate through IMH. As Deputy Direc­tor of the Train­ing Divi­sion and Edu­ca­tion Director’s Office of IMH, she helps with the teach­ing pro­gram of the psy­chi­atric trainees and co-ordinates the teach­ing activ­i­ties of other hos­pi­tal staff.

Dr Ong Say How is a con­sul­tant child psy­chi­a­trist and the deputy chief in the depart­ment of Child & Ado­les­cent Psy­chi­a­try, Insti­tute of Men­tal Health (IMH). Grad­u­ated in National Uni­ver­sity of Sin­ga­pore in 1999 with a Mas­ters Degree in Psy­chi­a­try and a Grad­u­ate Diploma in Psy­chother­apy in 2001, Dr Ong has recently been awarded a 1-year Research Fel­low­ship to New York Colum­bia Uni­ver­sity and New York State Psy­chi­atric Insti­tute (NYSPI) in 2004. Since his return to Sin­ga­pore, he has been deeply engaged in out­pa­tient ser­vices for chil­dren and ado­les­cent with psy­cho­log­i­cal prob­lems and research work in mood dis­or­ders and schiz­o­phre­nia. Besides being a exec­u­tive com­mit­tee mem­ber with the Sin­ga­pore Asso­ci­a­tion for Men­tal Health (SAMH) in which he is actively involved in pub­lic edu­ca­tion and care­givers train­ing, Dr Ong is also a fre­quent speaker in pub­lic forums and Medi­a­corp inter­views on child men­tal health issues. His author­ship also spans var­i­ous rel­e­vant top­ics on chil­dren and ado­les­cent men­tal health.

Dr Aaron Ang is a Con­sul­tant Psy­chi­a­trist in the Depart­ment of Geri­atric Psy­chi­a­try. He grad­u­ated from the National Uni­ver­sity of Sin­ga­pore (MB,BS) in 1996. He obtained the Sin­ga­pore Psy­chi­atric Asso­ci­a­tion Book Prize for Mas­ters of Med­i­cine (Psy­chi­a­try) Sin­ga­pore (2002). He has a spe­cial inter­est in Geri­atric Psy­chi­a­try and hav­ing com­pleted his Advance Spe­cialty Train­ing (AST) in Psy­chi­a­try in 2006, he worked in the Depart­ment of Geri­atric Psy­chi­a­try, Insti­tute of Men­tal Health / Wood­bridge Hos­pi­tal for 4 years. To bet­ter man­age his patients holis­ti­cally, he obtained Mem­ber­ship to the Royal Col­lege of Physi­cians (MRCP) in 2005. He has been involved in the teach­ing of Under­grad­u­ates from both the Yong Loo Lin School of Med­i­cine Duke-NUS Grad­u­ate Med­ical School as Clin­i­cal Teacher and Adjunct Instruc­tor respec­tively. He had served as Deputy Direc­tor of Train­ing in the Insti­tute of Men­tal Health from 2006 to 2009 and been involved in the train­ing pro­gramme and teach­ing of psy­chi­a­try post­grad­u­ates. He was awarded Excel­lence Award for Teach­ing by the National Health­care Group, Sin­ga­pore in 2005.

Dr Andrew LH Peh, Asso­ciate Pro­gram Direc­tor for Psy­chi­atric Res­i­dency at CGH, works in the areas of mood and anx­i­ety dis­or­ders, sub­stance use dis­or­ders and cog­ni­tive behav­iour psy­chother­apy. He obtained his med­ical degree and Mas­ters in Med­i­cine (Psy­chi­a­try) from the National Uni­ver­sity of Sin­ga­pore and is a Fel­low of the Acad­emy of Med­i­cine, Sin­ga­pore. He is Senior Con­sul­tant with the Depart­ment of Psy­cho­log­i­cal Med­i­cine, Changi Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal and is in charge of the con­sul­ta­tion liai­son psy­chi­atric pro­gram at CGH. In addi­tion, he is Adjunct Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor at the Duke-GMS Med­ical School. He was appointed Asso­ciate Edi­tor of the Sin­ga­pore Med­ical Jour­nal since 2004. In addi­tion, he is the author of sev­eral books.

Dr Lai Yew Min, MBBS, MMed (Psy­chi­a­try), is the asso­ciate pro­gramme direc­tor for the grad­u­ate med­ical edu­ca­tion pro­gramme of the Depart­ment of Psy­cho­log­i­cal Med­i­cine at the National Uni­ver­sity Health System.

She grad­u­ated from the National Uni­ver­sity of Sin­ga­pore and was trained in psy­chi­a­try at the Wood­bridge Hos­pi­tal and the National Uni­ver­sity Hos­pi­tal in Sin­ga­pore. She prac­tises adult gen­eral psy­chi­a­try and has a spe­cial inter­est in the cog­ni­tive behav­iour ther­apy of mood and anx­i­ety dis­or­ders. She is the Consultant-in-charge of the psy­chi­atric inpa­tient ser­vice and has held this posi­tion since 2004. She was the Clin­i­cal Coor­di­na­tor for the Final MMed (Psy­chi­a­try) exam­i­na­tions from 2003 to 2007.

Dr Helen Chen is Senior Con­sul­tant psy­chi­a­trist, and Head, KKH Men­tal Well­ness Ser­vice. She is also the Direc­tor of the Post­na­tal Depres­sion Inter­ven­tion Pro­gramme, a MOH-funded project that aims to screen for Post­na­tal Depres­sion amongst a cohort of recently deliev­ered women for the pur­pose of early inter­ven­tion. She com­pleted her train­ing in the area of peri­na­tal psy­chi­a­try and women’s men­tal health at the Queen’s Med­ical Cen­tre, Uni­ver­sity of Not­ting­ham, United King­dom, and has many years of clin­i­cal expe­ri­ence work­ing with women suf­fer­ing from emo­tional dis­or­ders. She is par­tic­u­larly pas­sion­ate about car­ing for women who suf­fer from psy­cho­log­i­cal dif­fi­cul­ties related to child­bear­ing., and her other areas of inter­est include psycho-oncology (in rela­tion to gynae­co­log­i­cal can­cers and breast can­cer). Her research, pub­li­ca­tion and teach­ing expe­ri­ence has been related to emo­tional and psy­cho­log­i­cal health issues in women, par­tic­u­larly in the con­text of moth­er­hood. Her expe­ri­ences have time and again hum­bled her, and made her respect­ful of the courage and per­se­ver­ance of spirit of her patients, and that of human nature

Dr Somath Sen­gupta
is cur­rently a Con­sul­tant in Gen­eral Psy­chi­a­try at Insti­tute of Men­tal Health, (IMH). He opted for a teach­ing career soon on com­plet­ing his Post­grad­u­ate train­ing in psy­chi­a­try (MD) from National Insti­tute of Men­tal Health and Neu­ro­sciences (NIMHANS), Ban­ga­lore, India in 1988. He has then held Fac­ulty posi­tion in dif­fer­ent national and reputed med­ical insti­tutes of India over last twenty years. He finally held the posi­tion of Pro­fes­sor in psy­chi­a­try at Insti­tute of Human Behav­ior & Allied Sci­ences (IHBAS), New Delhi, before com­ing over to Sin­ga­pore. Though he likes to have infor­mal (bed­side) and inter­ac­tive teach­ing ses­sions for the trainees he has expe­ri­ence in both for­mal as well as infor­mal teach­ing ses­sions. His spe­cial areas of inter­est are severe men­tal dis­or­ders, alco­holism and con­sul­ta­tion liai­son psy­chi­a­try. He is an inter­na­tional mem­ber of Euro­pean Psy­chi­atric Association.

Dr Sujatha Rao soci­ate Con­sul­tant with the Early Psy­chosis Inter­ven­tion Team(EPIP) and Sup­port for Well­ness Achieve­ment Pro­gramme (SWAP), with whom i have worked for the last 2 years. Prior to this i was work­ing within the Gen­eral Psy­chi­a­try depart­ment at the Insti­tute of Men­tal Health. I have had expe­ri­ence in teach­ing and con­duct­ing work­shops as well as sem­i­nars to large groups of audi­ence at pub­lic forums, to stu­dents and lec­tur­ers at local edu­ca­tional insti­tu­tions and school coun­selors from the Min­istry of Health. I am cur­rently a Clin­i­cal Tutor for the Yong Loo Lin School of Med­i­cine, NUS and an Adjunct Lec­turer for the Duke-NUS Med­ical Uni­ver­sity in Sin­ga­pore. I have pre­vi­ously been an OSCE exam­iner for med­ical stu­dents in the UK and have been involved in con­duct­ing the OSCE exams for the Duke-NUS med­ical stu­dents. I am also a coor­di­na­tor for the 4th Year Duke Elec­tive Programme.

Adjunct Asso­ciate Pro­fes­sor and Senior Con­sul­tant Psy­chi­a­trist with the Depart­ment of Psy­cho­log­i­cal Med­i­cine, NUHS.

Dr Wong grad­u­ated from NUS in 1987, and com­pleted his spe­cial­ist train­ing in psy­chi­a­try at NUH, IMH and TTSH. He was awarded Mas­ter of Med­i­cine (Psy­chi­a­try) in 1992, and exited form Advanced Spe­cialty (Psy­chi­a­try) train­ing pro­gram in 1995. He was appointed a Fel­low in Trauma Psy­chi­a­try at the Uni­formed Ser­vices Uni­ver­sity of the Health Sci­ences, Bethesda, Mary­land, USA in 1996, par­tic­i­pated in trauma man­age­ment train­ing with the Amer­i­can Red Cross Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Divi­sion and the Inter­na­tional Crit­i­cal Inci­dent Stress Foun­da­tion. Dr Wong was instru­men­tal in the train­ing devel­op­ment of Psy­cho­log­i­cal Trauma Man­age­ment for doc­tors and men­tal health­care work­ers in SAF. He is a grad­u­ant of the US Mil­i­tary Strate­gic Lead­er­ship Pro­gram 2004 and the Sin­ga­pore Armed Forces Com­mand and Staff Col­lege Senior Com­man­der Course 2005.

Dr Wong is also a trained Child and Ado­les­cent Psy­chi­a­trist, grad­u­ated with a Mas­ter of Sci­ence in Child and Ado­les­cent Men­tal Health (Merit) from King’s Col­lege, Lon­don 2002. His clin­i­cal train­ing assign­ment includes Child Guid­ance Clinic/ Insti­tute of Men­tal Health Sin­ga­pore, Bloom­field Cen­ter Child and Ado­les­cent Neu­ropsy­chi­a­try Clinic/ Guy’s Hos­pi­tal Lon­don and the Depart­ment of Child Psychiatry/ Insti­tute of Psy­chi­a­try, Maud­s­ley, Lon­don. He has a spe­cial inter­est in ADHD and devel­op­men­tal psychiatry.

He has con­tributed actively towards psy­chi­a­try train­ing of under­grad­u­ate med­ical stu­dents, post-graduate train­ing, hav­ing served as Clin­i­cal Teacher, and is now an Adjunct Asso­ciate Pro­fes­sor with the Depart­ment of Psy­cho­log­i­cal Med­i­cine, Yong Loo Lin School of Med­i­cine, NUS.

Dr Wong is an estab­lished clin­i­cian with a wide reper­toire of clin­i­cal skills and expe­ri­ences in psy­chi­a­try, med­ical teach­ing, research, and orga­ni­za­tional man­age­ment. He is par­tic­u­larly excited about see­ing the new Res­i­dency pro­gram tak­ing root, nur­tur­ing a new gen­er­a­tion of com­pe­tency based and pas­sion­ate psychiatrists.

Dr Samuel Cheng is a senior con­sul­tant in the Depart­ment of Psy­cho­log­i­cal Depart­ment at CGH (Changi Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal). His prin­ci­pal areas of inter­ests are psy­chother­apy and epi­demi­ol­ogy. He is one of the key lec­tur­ers in the NUS post­grad­u­ate diploma/certificate in psy­chother­apy pro­gramme (dynamic track) and is actively involved in the teach­ing and super­vi­sion of psy­chother­apy in CGH.
